Getting There - Azores          

This is the flight information to The Azores for guests from the UK, Europe and USA. There are many options, so you can find a route that suits your plans. Airport transfers to the hotel by us are included in price of holiday

There are 9 islands of the Azores. We work on the Islands of Faial and PIco.

Your arrival in the Azores

Our guests need to arrive at PICO airport or HORTA on the island of FAIAL.

All trips run saturday to saturday. So please arrive and depart Pico or Horta on saturday. You may need to stay in Lisbon on the night before travelling to the islands if you want to take a morning flight.

If you travel on a day other than saturday you will pay the transfer directly, it is not included in the package but we can arrange this for you. You can ADD ON DAYS before or after the holiday as you wish.

It is good to arrive on an early flight after a night in Lisbon if possible to have some relaxation, although the later flight after flying from your home country the same day is fine too

We arrange all your ground transfers from the airport and short ferry crossing if you arrive in Horta.

Flights From the UK

You can fly to PICO or HORTA via Lisbon, Portugal which is the most straightforward.

Th ere is a limied service to Ponta delgada on Sao Migul Island ( big island of Azores, one hour flight to Pico and Horta where we are based, tho these flights are not very convenient unless you want an extra week on this island)

Fly to the Azores  ( PICO or HORTA ) via Lisbon. There are many budget airlines to Lisbon from london and other UK cities or TAP has a flight from london which is combined with Island flights which is a good price.   There are some flights from the UK to the Island of Sao Miguel from where you need to take a one hour internal flight to Pico.

Flights to PICO are on saturday and tuesday

There are 2 daily flights to HORTA ( Azores) from Lisbon. Your final destination will be a short 30 min ferry ride form Horta. The Dolphin Connection will make all the local transfers, so you will be met at the airport and the port and taken to the hotel.

Dates

Flight prices vary a lot depending on which day you fly. Flights are coming in at around £300 all the way to Horta on TAP Air Portugal from the UK. New flight times are often added later. You can get there in one day or overnight in Lisbon and take an early flight to the islands. It is good to book as early as possible and if you can be flexible on your travel days you can select the best deals.

You need to fly to Lisbon, then to Horta or Pico You can search the web on www.lastminute.com (good prices) Type in “flight only” then “HOR” which will show a selection of times to the destination (2 flights)

Some flights are all in same day and some have an overnight stop marked in red.

Or you can go direct to TAP Air Portugal web site,www.flytap.com They seem to show the variation in prices by the selection of dates which is useful

Or, you may like to look at some of the budget airlines going from many European cities to Lisbon then fly with TAP to Horta or Pico www.expedia.co.uk or www.opodo.com

There are budget airlines to Lisbon: easyjet ( from Gatwick,Luton, Heathrow and Bristol, LIverpool) and Bmi baby (from Birmingham).

Some people fly to Lisbon on the evening before and overnight in Lisbon (see lisbon Hotels) and get an early flight to the islands. This way you will arrive with time to relax on first day, practice some snorkelling and have an early night! However new schedules are released and extra planes added so ask. It is also fine to arrive on the later flight, but make sure you are fresh for the first action packed day on the water!

Some people have an extra night in Horta on the day before the start of the trip and then take a morning ferry to join the trip (see accommodation horta)

On arrival  there will be a welcome meeting and complimentary drinks. Food will be available in the hotel restaurant. The first formal activity will be at 10am on the next day with boat trips in the afternoon! The departure is on the morning of the last scheduled date.  

Flights From Europe

You have to get to Lisbon and then fly to either Pico or Horta. There are some SATA flights that go to Ponta Delgada on the island of Sao Miguel which then requires a connecting flight to Pico or Horta (1 hour flight time). See www.flytap.com

There are flights from Boston and Providence to The Azores Islands so you may be able to avoid going via LIsbon , Portugal. Best to ask a US agent
