This is a 6 day holiday on the beautiful tropical Island of Bimini. We introduce you to a dolphin swim company we highly recommend and then you can book directly with them. Flights are to Florida or Faut Lauderdale, then seaplane to Bimini.

Bimini is unique for it's warm, shallow, crystal clear waters and the atlantic Spotted dolphins who are very habituated to human interraction. 
The dolphins often come up within arms length, they are very curious and playful, swimming alongside, diving and spiralling beneath us. Their exquisite movements enchant us as we lose ourselves in their underwater ballet immersed in a symphony of sound.

Your hosts

We work with two representative dolphin swim companies who have a wealth of experience
in Bimini on a luxury cruise boats. You can either be land based taking daily trips in the morning or afternoon with resident skipper and guide and can be anywhere from 3 to 4 hours in length. Also we offer 'live on board' trips where you stay on a large luxury cruise boat in a group size of 12 persons.


The dolphins

It takes approximately 1 hour to reach the "Dolphin Grounds" before we begin our encounters. At times, the Dolphins have come to the boat in as little as 30 minutes. At times it has taken over 3 hours. If you are living on the boat you are obviously in a position to have more chances to meet and swim with dolphins.

On average, about 1 out of every 5 trips the Dolphins opt not to come to the boat at all. But that's the nature of a "Wild Encounter". When they do come they tend to stay around for anything between 15mins and an hour.

Bimini

A tiny island in the Bahamas, Bimini is just 7 miles long and barely 700 feet wide at it's widest point. Lying just 50 miles east of the South Florida coast line, it is the western most island in the Bahamas and the closest foreign island to the US mainland.

The Resort

Bimini Big Game Resort & Marina has long been one of the great marine-sports centers of the Bahamas. Loyal guests return to this convenient spot year after year to enjoy its club-like atmosphere and beautiful surrounding waters - world famous for boating, fishing (deep-sea and bone fishing), diving, kayaking, and wild dolphin encounters.

Following a recent multimillion-dollar refurbishment, the resort is now better than ever. Centrally located, a short stroll from the beach, it has 51 air-conditioned rooms, cottages and penthouses, a 74-slip full-service marina, a fine restaurant, a popular bar and complete sporting facilities right on the property.

Weather

During the months of May through October you can expect both the air and water temperatures to be in the mid to high 80's. Wet suits are usually not required after June and sometimes not until as late as December. November through April the air temperature is normally between the mid 70's to mid 80's. On average, the water temperature hits a seasonal low of 72-75 sometime in early February.

Currency

The Bahamian dollar is our countries currency and it is traded on par, 1 for 1, with the US dollar. US dollars are freely accepted in the Bahamas and there is no reason to exchange your currency.

There is limited acceptance of credit cards on Bimini (VISA, MASTERCARD, & AMEX) and when using travelers checks expect a small service charge.

There are no automated tellers (ATM machines) on Bimini and no opportunities for cashing or using personal checks. You can get cash advances with a VISA card only (No MASTERCARD or AMEX...... don't ask, we have no idea why!!) at our local bank.

You are invited to use VISA, or MC, for all your purchases at BIMINI UNDERSEA if you wish.

Customs & Immigration

Upon your arrival on Bimini you will be required to clear Bahamas Customs and Immigration. In order to enter the Bahamas, US citizens must have either a · Valid Passport or a · Birth Certificate with a corresponding Picture ID. Non US citizens should contact their local Bahamian consulate for entry requirements.

After clearing Immigration your luggage will be inspected by a Customs officer. For most visitors this is just a formality and should only take a few minutes. Please note that the possession of firearms or illegal drugs is strictly forbidden by Bahamian Law.
